Anne-Sophie, Florent, Lohan and Nahia : a family to welcome you!
36-year old Anne-Sophie was born in Chambéry, in the French Alps. After graduating from high-school, she spent a year in a family in Senegal where she discovered the world of NGOs and volunteer work. On her return, she attended the International Business and Development School EICD-3A in Lyons, and gained experience doing internships abroad and helping not-for-profit organisations. Opening up to other cultures, she discovered rural life and the importance of man-nature relationship. She decided nonetheless to stay in France where she started working with immigrant populations. Thanks to Florent, she discovered the richness of rural cultures in France.
38-year old Florent was born in Paris, but spent his youth in a hamlet at the heart of the Pays d’Othe (Aube), in northeastern France. At the age of 15, he moved to Paris western suburbs where he sat his baccalaureat and later graduated from EFAP, the French School of Press Relations and communication. He decided to leave his self-employed status and the world of event communication to discover other cultures and sources of inspiration. Ethnic minorities’ ways of life reminded him of the way his rural neighbours used to live when he was a child.Making his way in the world of development and humanitarian work, he met Anne-Sophie.
"Petit à petit l’oiseau fait son nid !"
In 2006, we made the choice of a rural life closer to nature. We tried to find a small piece of land to shape with our experiences and aspirations in order to make it a place to live and welcome others. That’s when a little ramshackle house deeply rooted in a little plot of land found us…
Friends and family
A huge heartfelt thank you to all of you, for the way you always encouraged us and extended a helping hand whenever necessary!
The Vies-la-joie association
With other local organisations, we created in December 2011 an association whose aim is to help animate the local life through field actions, developing two main themes :
- Food, from growing it to eating, with an emphasis on the well-being of man and his environment
- Events organizing, to encourage conviviality, joie de vivre, opening up to other cultures, solidarity, ecology and respect for the Living.
